Step 1.
Make sure the computer is not connected to the Internet through
dial-up. If so, terminate the connection first. If you're
using a LAN connection skip to section LAN.
Step 2.
Start Windows Explorer. Make sure that your system is configured
to show all registered extensions. Go to View > Options
and check the appropriate settings. Switch to C:\Windows\System
directory and delete the files 'ska.exe' and 'ska.dll'.
Step 3.
In C:\Windows\Sytem directory, rename the file 'wsock32.dll'
to 'wsock32.bak'
Step 4.
In C:\Windows\System directory, rename 'wsock32.ska' to 'wsock32.dll'.
Step 5.
Delete the downloaded file, usually named 'HAPPY99.EXE' and
empty your recycle bin.
Step 6.
Click Start > Shutdown > Reboot.
NOTES: Windows prevents you to do step 2 and 3 above
if the machine is still connected to the Internet. The file
"windows\system\wsock32.dll" is used whenever the
machine is connected to Internet (i.e. through dial-up or
LAN connection).
LAN:
If you are connected to Internet through LAN (i.e. in the
office or cable modem), you need to do the following:
Step 1.
Start > Shutwdown > Restart in MS DOS mode.
Step 2.
You should be at C:\Windows prompt. Type CD \System. You should
be at C:\Windows\System prompt.
Step 3.
Type RENAME WSOCK32.DLL WSOCK32.BAK
Step 4.
Ttype RENAME WSOCK32.SKA WSOCK32.DLL
Step 5.
Type DEL SKA.EXE
Step 6.
Type DEL SKA.DLL
Step 7.
Press CTRL-ALT-DEL and allow Windows to restart.
Congratulations, Happy99.exe has now been removed from your
system.
